OGD YEARS:CHILDREN WERE WELL TAKEN CARE OF

One of the indellible achievements of H.E Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s Administration that will forever be a template for any reasonable government to emulate is the welfare programme put in place for children for the period of 8yrs.

The administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel created an enabling environment for children to meet with the Governor atleast three times in six months, a programme which has helped tremendously to know their needs and aspirations for the future.

Two outstanding programmes that OGD keyed into successfully was the “Operation Kick Out Polio” and “Roll Back Malaria”, these programmes were given so much attention that Otunba Gbenga Daniel saw it as a necessity to be the one to give vaccines to these children as they were the leaders of tomorrow.

The height of the attention given to them was the regular Fiesta at the State Government House which was made open to all without social discrimination.The most thrilling experience was that Otunba Gbenga Daniel emulated the Biblical story of Jesus who beckoned on young ones to come to him, this was more reason why the Governor would always be the one to serve and share gifts for them.

Barely 8years that the children friendly government is gone, the children are now curious to know if the incoming Governor will follow this laudable effort of Otunba Gbenga Daniel or relegate them to the background just like the outgoing government.

It is not too early for the young ones to start calling on the new government to create an enabling environment for them as well as people living with disability, as they form the larger number of the society.
